As kids, we used to dream big. Go to Europe. Get a job at NASA. Be a famous artist. Be the president. They are lofty, sure. We thought they were achievable. Our parents and relatives then would laugh at us and say, “Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is.”
We didn’t know that circumstances would bind us to how much we could reach. How much we could take. How much we could receive. A poor soul could dream as much as they want until reality says that, “No, you can’t achieve X because [insert the various factors that are out of control for the person in question].”
And that’s sad. While today’s conditions are better than decades ago, there’s still a fair amount of inequality in a few parts of the world. And what do those people do to cope with it? Dream. Dream of a reality that they know they cannot reach.
