The other day, I received a warm message greeting me on my graduation and the hope that opportunities would come to me afterward. I did get an opportunity a week after and accepted it because it fit my present needs.
She has been a close relative of my father ever since he studied in college. I’ve longed to meet her but wasn’t able to commit until now. It was unexpected but in a good way. Despite my tight schedule, I was able to allocate time for her after work. Work can be mentally taxing sometimes. But I’ve recognized that having that conversation helps to alleviate the stress accumulated throughout the day.
Life can give you the unexpected at any time. My whole internship journey in Cebu was packed with spontaneity, from my travels in Mactan and Cebu City to the dynamics with my fellow interns and managers. I still cherish them to this day. Even the work I accepted after graduation came from an unexpected opportunity through my network.
Careful planning has its place, but so is the drive to recognize opportunities, accept the risk, and embrace it. No plan is 100% bulletproof. What might be unexpected may be a blessing in disguise, waiting for you to accept… or not.
