A Blank Slate

John Locke described how, at birth, our minds start with a blank slate and that we acquire knowledge through experiencing the world around us. Today, knowledge is bountiful and within arm's reach. Anyone can look up on the internet and learn about anything. But the amount of accessible knowledge also makes one question whether it’s possible to learn them all. Is it?

I don’t think it’s a sustainable goal. Our mind can only hold so much that it intentionally forgets information to make space for the future. That might be why we forget our pasts often.

When we hit a wall or “blank out”, it’s an opportunity to acquire new knowledge to solve that problem. And that only happens when you do it with intention. If it’s a need for you right now. In a way, it’s a more sustainable approach. Because you are choosing where you feel and want to focus in the moment.
